Position: Productions Horticultural Supervisor
Basis: Full-Time Employment (Plus Additional Hours)
Location: Werribee South, VIC
Wage: $70,000 – $75,000 Per Annum (Or Equivalent Hourly Rate) + Superannuation
Mason Bros Vegetable Farms, located in Werribee South, is an industry leader in growing and supplying fresh cut vegetables throughout Australia.
We are currently seeking an experienced Production Horticulture Supervisor. This is a hands-on position that involves operating and coordinating / supervising farm teams to help meet quality standards for vegetable produce and achieve daily production and harvest targets.
Duties include
- Contribute to growing vegetable produce by undertaking irrigation, fertigation, spraying and disease control programs
- Assist in achieving final vegetable crop quality and delivery schedules
- Pre-operational checks and safe operation of farm machinery including tractors, trailers, harvesters and sprayers
- Daily set up of farm equipment and machinery for production and harvest
- Co-ordination of production and harvest site activities including resources, stock material and machinery
- Supervising production and harvest teams to achieve daily schedules
- Housekeeping of equipment and machinery, cleaning, basic maintenance and storage
- Preparation and application of chemicals for control of pest, weeds, and diseases
- Complete quality assurance data inputs into farm management system and daily reporting activities to farm management
- Developing and maintaining production schedules to meet seasonal demands and optimize resource use
- Maintain a high standard of safety practices
Skills, experience and qualifications
- Experience in production horticulture, preferably in a supervisory role;
- Relevant qualification such as AQF Certificate III, IV in Horticulture/Agriculture or equivalent;
- Strong knowledge of crop management, pest control and sustainable practices;
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills;
- Team oriented and flexible to undertake a variety of tasks;
- Sound communication skills;
- Willingness to work flexible hours;
- Ability to maintain efficiency and high performance particularly during peak harvest periods;
- Experienced in operating farm machinery (i.e. tractors, harvesters, plants, etc.)
- Hold a Current Driver’s Licence;
- Hold current Agricultural Chemical User Permit
